Buy as much silver as you can as low as you can…if that means apmex or craigslist or silver snowball or whatever….get as much as you can!
Buy your silver from a large bullion dealer such as AMPEX, MONEX or KITCO to name a few. Better prices for name brand bars or rounds and coins. Notice Ebay and Scottsdale prices are $1.50-2 per oz over spot. Way to high of premium. Should never pay more than $0.99 over spot for bars or rounds.
thanks
Yeah, but what their discount over the spot price is usually made up in their mailing fees/cost. AMPEX is a prime example of excessive mailing fees/cost. I would still buy from AMPEX but I wouldn’t completely rule out Scottsdale Silver.
You have a good point and I agree. For small purchases, probably better off with the free shipping from places like Scottsdale. Using bank wire transfer for APMEX brings their fees in line, of course the minimum for that is $1500.00. I have bought from both recently. Thats the great thing about the web, can pull up both sites at same time and compare costs. Last week APMEX had a silver sale, $0.49 over spot while silver price was about $13.70, what a deal.
My 2 cents,Canadian Maple Leafs are good, have a $5 Canadian value to them as opposed to $1 US for Silver Eagle and $0 for rounds and bars. So if price of silver plummets at least the Maple Leafs are worth $5 Canadian. Plus they are 9999 silver as opposed to 9993 silver.
Excellent advice, thanks.
Nice, Real Nice!!
Have you seen the bars from Scottsdale Silver ? I’ve been picking them up each month. Stash away for later.
It is just as easy to drill out a Englehard bar as a generic.
In looking at the different companies – Scottsdale Silver has the CHEAPEST shipping rates (mainly times free) and they accept Credit Cards and Paypal.
So when nammie12345 said that Ebay & Scottsdale are a bit more expensive…not exactly as the other companies don’t have ecommerce platforms of using credit cards. They make you drive to your bank, spend money/time to send a wire or manually mail off a check and wait 3 weeks to clear.
Not to mention that Scottsdale has some impressive bullion !
